New Narco Wars: Afghanistan (Part of the Narco Wars Season)
While the War in Terror has been executed in Afghanistan, Afghan drug lords have been operating almost entirely under the radar. Afghanistan now controls 90 per cent of the world’s drug supply and the drug money almost entirely funds the Taliban militants in their operation against world forces.
In an attempt to rid the region of drug profits, US military and civilian officials took to destroying opium fields; however, these tactics have not prevented the drug industry from continuing to grow.
Join us at the Frontline Club for a panel disussion that will look at the failure of tactics used to halt opium production in Afghanistan and discuss the importance of the drug trade to the Taliban.
