Vietnam Cycle 2007-08

27 Oct - 8 November 2007 / 4 - 16 November 2008 Come explore Vietnam's rugged mountains and patchwork of bright green rice paddies with Afghanaid. This exciting challenge will lead you through traditional Vietnamese villages, past temples and lakes, spectacular gorges as well as the dynamic city of Hanoi.
We provide you with a dedicated event manager to help you reach the fundraising target and answer any questions. We also organise a
pre-trip event so you can meet all your fellow cyclists.
BRIEF ITINERARY
DAY 1 : Fly London-Hanoi
DAY 2 : City tour of Hanoi including Lake of the Restored Sword; Ngoc Son Pagoda
DAY 3 : Hanoi-Hoa Binh-Mai Chau (66km): ascend 200m before cruising down into the beautiful valley where the village of Proom Con Village sits
DAY 4 : Mai Chau-Moc Chau(67km): After cycling a lot of hill through traditional villages, we stay in Moc Chau renowed for its milk cake and tea products
DAY 5 : Moc Chau- Son La(121km): Head off downhill and go through lush, terrased rice paddies aginst the jagged cliff backdrop
DAY 6 : Son La-Tuan Giao(90km): Cycle through some stunning scenery like an area inhabited by White Hmong where the women traditionally dressed
DAY 7 : Tuan Giao-Dien Bien Phu(81km): a gentler cycling day
DAY 8 : Dien Bien Phu-Lai Chau(100km): Visit the war museum at Dien Bien Phu where Vietnamise overcame the occuping French forces, and tackle the climb of 400m
DAY 9 : Lai Chau-Tam Duong(105km): After struggling uphill climb, encounter a wonderful 10km descent
DAY 10 : Tam Duong-Sapa: Final day's ride and peddle through some of the most amazing scenery we've experienced
DAY 11 : Sapa-Overnight train to Hanoi: Relax and soak up the atmosphere of Sapa
DAY 12 : Free time and fly back to London
DAY 13 : Arrive London
