Apples for Afghanistan appeal
Did you know that the humble apple probably originated from the Tien Shan Mountains between Kazakhstan and China – just 500 miles away from Afghanistan?
Apples play an important role in some of Afghanaid’s agricultural projects. We are currently involved with planting new varieties and community orchards as well as working with women to teach them preservation and drying techniques so that apples and other fruit are available during the harsh winter months. More information about Afghanaid’s apple based projects can be found in the Apples for Afghanistan Host Pack.
Host an Apples for Afghanistan Party in your home or community and celebrate the Great British Apple whilst supporting Afghanaid’s vital agricultural projects in rural Afghanistan. You could:
- Spend a Sunday baking and cheer your colleagues up with a Monday morning cake sale
- Invite your friends round for a simple coffee morning or lavish dinner party
- Organise an event in your local community / mosque / church hall full of apple dishes and games
