Afghanaid is an international charity that operates only in Afghanistan. We work alongside Afghans in the most remote and marginalised areas of Afghanistan, to help them meet their survival and development needs.
We work with rural communities to promote their economic, social and political rights, essentially helping poor Afghans to help themselves.
Following decades of war and instability, the Afghan government’s ability to provide basic services such as education, infrastructure and sanitation, especially at a local level, is limited.
As such, NGOs like Afghanaid play an important role in the provision of these basic services to the Afghan people. In particular, we aim to improve access to education, strengthen local democratic practices, and reduce the risk of disease and mortality associated with lack of safe water, poor sanitation and hygiene practices.
