Afghanaid is an international charity that operates only in Afghanistan. We work alongside Afghans in the most remote and marginalised areas of Afghanistan, to help them meet their survival and development needs.
We work with rural communities to promote their economic, social and political rights, essentially helping poor Afghans to help themselves.
Emergency Assistance and Risk Reduction
A Community Response Team prepares to distribute Emergency Tool Kits.
Natural hazards and disasters are widespread in Afghanistan and 34 years of conflict have left the population deeply vulnerable to these tragedies. Every year, more than 250,000 people are affected by natural calamities. As a result, the coping mechanisms of many ordinary men and women in Afghanistan have been exhausted.
We recognise that impoverished local communities and the national government are often unable to provide an effective respond to sudden emergencies. This combined with the frequency of the shocks that communities face, the ceaseless poverty and under-development, means there is an ongoing need to provide vulnerable Afghans with well-coordinated, effective emergency assistance and relief.
