Afghanaid is an international charity that operates only in Afghanistan. We work alongside Afghans in the most remote and marginalised areas of Afghanistan, to help them meet their survival and development needs.
We work with rural communities to promote their economic, social and political rights, essentially helping poor Afghans to help themselves.
Agricultural and livestock production in Afghanistan has declined significantly as a result of the decades of conflict, destruction of irrigation systems, natural hazards and lack of basic services. More than 80% of Afghanistan’s labour force depends on agriculture as their primary source of income and an estimated 42% of the population lives below the poverty line.
Afghanaid has on-going Livestock, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Enterprise Development projects in Badakhshan, Ghor and Samangan. We implement these initiatives in collaboration with the Government of Afghanistan’s Water Management Department (WMD), Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (DAIL) and Ministry of Economics.
Women in Work
