Afghanaid is an international charity that operates only in Afghanistan. We work alongside Afghans in the most remote and marginalised areas of Afghanistan, to help them meet their survival and development needs.
We work with rural communities to promote their economic, social and political rights, essentially helping poor Afghans to help themselves.
Afghanaid also improves animal health for poor farmers. We promote the treatment and vaccination of livestock. We also give technical advice on grazing practices and food cultivation for improving animal health and productivity.
The charity has established a network of Basic Veterinary Workers (BVW) and paravets, who have been trained and given medicines, vaccines and kits by us.
The BVW programme begins with a concentrated 21-day course including vaccinations and diagnosing common illnesses. The BVWs then receive frequent courses both in new areas and to refresh their knowledge. This programme includes both men and women.
