Walk for Afghanistan
On 6 Febraury around 25 Afghanaid supporters joined authors Bijan Omrani and Brigadier Bill Woodburn on a 10km sponsored walk around some of London's Afghan locations. We walked from The Asian Music Circuit's Museum in East Acton to the Afghan Embassy where we enjoyed a traditional Afghan lunch. After lunch we walked via Wellington Arch toThe Turkmen Gallery near Victoria.
The aim of the walk was to celebrate Afghanaid's 10,000th day of commitment and capacity building in Afghanistan and to raise money through sponsorship to help Afghanaid's work in rural Afghan communities to continue.
The weather remained dry throughout the day and the conversation flowed easily. Many people commented on how much they had enjoyed the day with walker Eliz Hurt saying, "I really enjoyed the whole day - well organised, good company, good food, very interesting and it was for a good cause."
The next walking challenge for Afghanaid's supporters will be a 10km trek up England's highest fell - Scafell Pike - on 17 September. If you'd like to join the group contact Ffion on ffion@afghanaid.org.uk to reserve your place. More information is available on our walks page.
