Afghanaid has put together an exciting programme of walks and treks in the UK
If you take part in an Afghanaid walk or trek in the UK we will provide you with:
- A fundraising pack containing all important essentials of fundraising tips, advice, and materials.
- Unlimited at-your-service fundraising support and training advice from a dedicated Afghanaid events coordinator
- An Afghanaid t-shirt of your choice to wear during your event

If you don't fancy an up hill walk or are looking for a longer trek, such as a week along Hadrian's Wall, take a look at the list of opportunities we have to join with like minded walkers on walks and treks all over the UK listed below.
We work with several providers to bring these opportunities to you and more information about each event can be found by clicking on the name of the event. For each of these events you will be asked to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship for Afghanaid. For some events there is the option to pay your own way and for all of your sponsorship to be donated directly to Afghanaid.

UK wide events
National three peaks in 24 hours
A difficult challenge of attempting to climb the highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales in just 24 hours. You start with Ben Nevis in Scotland and transfer by mini bus to Scafell Pike in England followed by Snowdon in Wales. Available with several companies: Maximum adventure
National Three Peaks (longer version)
Climb the three peaks of Scotland, England and Wales but at a more leisurely pace. Do it in 3 days over a long weekend (Thursday evening - Sunday morning, available June - September) or do it over 5 days (Sunday - Friday) with rest days in-between.
Events in England
Lake District 30000ers
Climb all of the Lake Distrct's 4 fells over 3000ft. They are Scafell Pike (3210ft), Sca Fell (3164ft), Helvellyn (3118ft), Skiddaw (3054ft). The trip takes place over a long weekend and you can do it with either Maximum Adventure or Discover Adventure
This classic walk from Carlisle to Newcastle (total of 84 miles) can be done in a variety of number of days and lengths. Do the whole distance in a week or see the edited highlights over a weekend with Maximum Adventure or Discover Adventure. You can also do a 26 mile one day event from Carlisle to Housesteads.
A very popular route taking in dramatic and ever-changing landscapes. Start walking at 8am on Saturday morning and ascend Pen y Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough before making our final descent back to Horton-in-Ribblesdale. Accommodation provided on Friday and Saturday evenings. Available May - August. Alternatively, do a peak a day on a 3 day challenge over a long weekend (Thursday evening - Sunday).
This is a tough event over the high chalk downs and ridgeways of Wiltshire and Salisbury Plain. At 26 miles it forms a marathon for runners and an enormous challenge for walkers. You can run, jog or walk the route or finish at the half marathon finishing point.

Events in Wales
Steeped in history and protected by rocky ridges, Snowdon is a unique mountain. One of the few places on Earth where the Snowdon Lily (Lloydia Serotina) can be found. As a weekend event this includes accommodation before and after the walk. Available May - September.
Take on all 15 Welsh peak over 3000ft. The Welsh peaks offer some of the finest mountain scenery in the UK and this is a great way to enjoy them. The trip takes place over a long weekend and is available June - September.

Ben Nevis
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Britain at 1344m high. Available with several companies: Ptarmigan (a one day event), Maximum Adventure (a weekend event with accommodation and airport transfer to and from Glasgow available) or Discover Adventure (also a weekend event. West Highland Way 152km from Glasgow to the foot of Ben Nevis via the shores of Loch Lomond, Scotland's largest freshwater loch. 7 days of walking with accommodation in Youth Hostels provided.
The Great Glen Way The Great Glen Way is 117km in length. It runs from Fort William to Inverness, with spectacular views and historical and natural heritage to be discovered all along the way. 7 days of walking with accommodation in Youth Hostels provided.
