This year marks 100 years since the 1918 Representation of the People Act, the law that gave women the right to vote in the UK and, whether it’s #MeToo or #TimesUp, 2018 really is the year to raise your voice for gender equality. Sadly, Afghanistan is still one of the most difficult places to be a woman. That’s why we are marking Women’s History Month with an appeal to empower vulnerable women in Afghanistan. Together we can transform their lives and bring a brighter future to generations to come.

How to listen and share

Please listen to Felicity Finch, star of The BBC's 'The Archers', tell Najla's story and make the Radio 4 Appeal on behalf of Afghanaid.

The appeal is now available to listen to online on iPlayer Radio.

How to donate

By posting a cheque to 'Freepost BBC Radio 4 Appeal'. That's the whole address - please do not write anything else on the front of the envelope. Cheques should be made payable to 'Afghanaid' and remember to mark the back of the envelope 'Afghanaid' as well.

Or you can donate online at any time, directly on our website.

Any gift, no matter how small or large, will be long-lasting, as the people you help will be able to lift their entire families out of poverty and pass on their new skills to the next generation.
