*Please note the Christmas Challenge has now ended.

Don't worry, you can still donate and support families in Afghanistan to combat climate change and build stronger futures for themselves and their communities.

1st - 8th December

We're really excited to announce that we're taking part in the UK's largest matching funding campaign and we need you to help us make it happen!

This Giving Tuesday, we're launching our The Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign: Ready For Change. We've got lots of exciting things planned for the week - find out more and get involved.

For 1 week, donations made on our campaign page will be matched pound for pound - that means one donation has twice the impact!

What's happening with climate change in Afghanistan?

Despite being one of the smallest contributors to greenhouse gases, Afghanistan is one of the countries that is most aggressively experiencing its effects, making finding food a major challenge and putting lives at risk.

We're working to help rural Afghans tackle the destructive impact of climate change which, with extreme weather worsening and the pandemic compounding existing challenges in Afghanistan, is now more important than ever.

Why is your support important?

You could help us to:

  • Teach local women new skills, and support them to plant vegetable gardens and fruit or nut tree orchards to feed their families, diversify sources of nutrition and income and increase their families' resilience against climate change. As income-earners, these women will also gain greater respect in their families and communities.
  • Train up local farmers in water management and conservation, and support them to build irrigation systems, so that their livelihoods are more resilient to drought and climate change.
  • Support men and women to learn new and updated farming techniques, using new tools and climate-resilient crops, so they can work together to feed their families whatever the weather.
  • Assist communities to restore local ecosystems and reinvigorate land, plant trees, and terrace hillsides to reduce the risks of floods and snow avalanches and save lives.
  • Support communities to adapt to a changing climate, use their land sustainably, grow more and get the most out of the natural resources on which they rely.

By donating during the campaign week, you could help twice as many families overcome the challenges they face and get #ReadyForChange.
