On Wednesday 10th August 2022, join us from 6pm at AMP Studios in Peckham for an exciting celebration of Afghanistan's vibrant and varied culture.

Featuring an incredible line up of music and speeches from Afghan creatives, the evening is sure to get your feet moving, stomach rumbling, and brain whirring.

Come down after work and join the fun: choose a mouth-watering Afghan-BBQ dinner from the 2LadsKitchen stall, grab a drink, browse and purchase charity merchandise and hear and see some incredible performances - all whilst standing in solidarity with people in Afghanistan and supporting our life-saving and life-changing work. Meet the contributors

Elaha Soroor is a London-based musician, vocalist, composer, and designer originally from Afghanistan, who first rose to fame through the reality TV show Afghan Star in 2008. Her latest release Songs Of Our Mothers is a collaborative album with the award winning collective band Kefaya. The album is an organic blend of traditional folk songs and contemporary sounds, and a joyous statement of resilience and emancipation, embodying the complexities and nuances of society across continents.

Farhot is the celebrated producer and artist behind Kabul Fire Records. His most recent 13-track album, Kabul Fire Vol II completely centres around the country from which his family had to flee when he was a child, exploring themes of identity and memory. The result is organic hip hop beats with elaborate and dreamy melodies, infused with elements from traditional Afghan music that take you to the dusty streets of Kabul.

Kaveh Bahrami is a Kurdish Jazz and Blues musician who has been a student of Folkloric music since childhood. After immigrating from northern Iran to the UK into study music at university, Kaveh has since has composed and performed with numerous Persian and Kurdish artists.

Sahar Fetrat is an Assistant Researcher with the Women’s Rights Division at Human Rights Watch. Alongside her research work in areas such as gender and conflict, Sahar is a celebrated storyteller via documentary filmmaking and writing. In 2013, Sahar’s documentary on street harassment, “Do Not Trust My Silence,” won the first prize at the Universo-Corto Elba Film Festival.

Dr Homira Rezai is the Chair of Hazara Committee in the UK (HCUK), a non-profit organisation working for the British-Hazara Community in the country and advocating for the rights of Hazaras in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Passionate about women's and minority rights, she has produced several reports and parliamentary briefings providing accurate information about the experiences of Hazara communities.

Currently, 93% of Afghan families are not eating enough food, and this percentage rises to almost 100% in families headed by women.

This summer, you can double your impact and help us enable double the number of female livestock owners in remote rural Afghanistan to gain the skills, knowledge and tools they need to maximise the health and productivity of their animals and create a reliable source of food and income. How? For 3 months the UK Government are matching all donations to Afghanaid's By Her Side appeal. £36 ticket option: pay £36 and with doubling from the UK Government, we can help 20 women to set up a livestock owner support group to more effectively access veterinary services.

£19.50 ticket option: pay £19.50 and with doubling from the UK Government, you will help two women receive the training and equipment they need to properly care for their donkeys, sheep, goats or cows. 

£12 ticket option: pay £12 and with doubling from the UK government, your support will provide 6 women with the educational materials they need to learn about animal welfare & good agricultural practices.

£5 ticket option: pay £5 and with doubling from the UK government, you will help a community to store grain and fodder to feed themselves and their animals over the winter.
