It's my birthday and because I love walking I'm going to challenge myself to walk to Blackpool from my house via part of the Wyre Way. It will be about 34 miles. I am wanting to take the opportunity to raise some money so urgently needed for emergency assistance in Afghanistan.

For close to 40 years, Afghanaid has worked with millions of vulnerable Afghans across Afghanistan, providing them with the training and tools they need to help themselves, their families and their communities.

What is Afghanaid doing in response to the current crisis?

Afghanaid are working hard to ensure the safety of their staff and have already re-opened a number of our provincial and district offices to continue their work in supporting remote rural communities. Right now they are responding with emergency assistance where needed and supporting families who have lost their homes and livelihoods as a result of the conflict.

Their ability to continue working is assisted by our strong local roots and our reputation for impartiality. The Taliban from Doha have been supportive of NGOs and we are finding that position is also being adopted by local commanders. In Kabul there is great uncertainty and we have temporarily closed our Kabul office and asked staff to remain at home. Our intention will be to re-open as soon as we feel it is safe to do so.

Your support could really make a difference to those who need it most. Please donate what you can today and help Afghanaid continue their work and support vulnerable Afghans for generations to come. Thank you!
