Start your philanthropy journey with Afghanaid

Help us stay and deliver in times of crisis

Currently, 97% of the population in Afghanistan are living below the poverty line, with 9 out of 10 families not eating enough day-to-day. Solving this current dire humanitarian crisis requires long-term, multifaceted support. As well as delivering urgent emergency assistance to help families meet their immediate needs, our holistic, participant-led approach has never been more essential to ensure ordinary Afghans can lead on the sustainable transformation of their communities and become more resilient to future crises.

Whether you are passionate about supporting a particular pillar of our work, are a committed flexible funder, or keen to hear about emerging partnership opportunities, our teams are dedicated to working with you to identify areas of shared interest and to guide your journey with us.

By supporting Afghanaid, you can drive progress at one of the most challenging and unprecedented periods in Afghanistan's history.

Why support Afghanaid?

Expand

As a philanthropic partner of Afghanaid, you can provide Afghans in some of the most underserved areas of the country with the training and tools they need to help themselves, their families and their communities.

Since 1983, led by a team that is over 95% Afghan, our dedicated staff have worked with millions of families in some of the poorest and most remote communities in Afghanistan. With our deep understanding of local, cultural and ethnic issues and our community-led approach, we have earned great trust and respect among the communities we serve throughout our 4 decades of service.

We know the key to transforming rural communities in Afghanistan lies in the untapped potential of some of the most marginalised members of society. Recognising this, our programming particularly target households that are most at risk – including women-headed families, or households with elderly, chronically ill or disabled family members. Decades of research, and our own experience, shows that where marginalised people are directly involved, communities become more inclusive, prosperous, and strong.

In this moment of urgent and unmatched need, few organisations operating in Afghanistan are better placed to ensure that ordinary men, women and children can survive and thrive. With your generous support, we can continue to deliver holistic, agile and sustainable solutions for many years to come.

What impact could my philanthropy have?

Expand

“I am very happy and heartily thankful to Afghanaid for supporting me and other poor families in our village!”

Thanks to the generous contributions of one of our philanthropic partners, last year Mariam* was able to receive cash assistance to help her buy food, warm blankets, a heater, and clothes for her children during the cold winter months.

This partnership allowed us to help a further 413 households like Mariam's in the same area, supporting them to meet their basic food needs and keep their families safe and warm during a time when resources were scarce. Read more stories about how our work has changed lives.
