Afghanaid recognizes the necessity of a viable, effective, and legitimate state to ending the cycle of fragility and enabling sustainable development. As the success of nationally-led efforts to stabilise and develop the country will determine its future trajectory, in all of its projects Afghanaid supports good governance by strengthening the relationship between citizens and local authorities. The trust Afghanaid has built with the communities with which we work have allowed us to promote meaningful participation of marginalised groups and facilitate positive engagement in local councils.

The most intrinsic principle to all effective humanitarian programming is ensuring that the most pressing needs of vulnerable communities are met, and that this response free from  intervention or influence. This principle is thus central to our governance as an organisation: our project teams embark upon a stringent and objective needs assessments in every community we work in, guaranteeing that our life-changing support reaches those who require it most. Our Monitoring and Evaluation team then continually analyse the efficacy of project delivery to ensure maximum efficiency and impact, with of our projects being monitored by robust internal standards and donor reporting requirements.
